Travelicious World Writing Job

If you got here because you were searching for a home-based job that could support your needs and your lifestyle, then you’re in the wrong place (unless you are an awesome honest-to-God writer with unbelievable skills and a large following). But if you’re here to earn on the side while having an existing job or you were specifically searching for an honest review on this job posting, then you’re in the right place.

Travelicious world is hiring! And for a fair rate (It’s in Australian Dollar currency, just so you know) to boot because aside from the article payment, you will also get FREE training!

But this doesn’t mean you’d be working full time for them. The first time you apply requires a lot of patience since you have to wait to get approved.

How to use our experiences to earn money?

Step 1: Sit on your butt and channel the writer in you
Step 2: Talk about your experiences (more like type about them)
Step 3: Get Paid

That is how I understood blogging but I’ve come to learn that there’s more to it than that. Which is why I’m thankful that I’ve found this ‘job’ hiring in travelicious to be one of their writers for $40 AUD per 1,000-word article.

At first, I was a little skeptical. Imagine applying for a writing job that says you don’t need experience to get hired. You would have doubts too! But then I got to thinking, I wouldn’t be risking anything and all I’ve got to lose is time so I applied. A day later, I got an email that my application was approved but before I can start earning some real money, I had to set-up my blog first.

Glad I just started setting up my own blog, I immediately clicked on the ‘get started‘ button when I was redirected to a page that says I need to set-up a blog according to their detailed instructions. At first, I was like, WTF! This part seemed a little shady. But I continued reading the explanations and found them to be reasonable.

Of course, publishers wouldn’t want you to write an article for them so you can leverage from their following and get a boost for your existing site. They want you to have a legit site that is purely for portfolio purposes they can link to when your author bio is clicked from their page. You can avail of their personal promo code to get the one dollar website with free hosting (GoDaddy) and pay for one year in advance. You basically pay $12 plus taxes of about a few cents.

Initially, I didn’t want to spend another dime on a site since I already spent some on both a website and hosting before I even applied for the job. BUT, I did some digging and found out that the website isn’t strict at all and they do pay you for that first article. Getting another project is another issue though but still. Buying the site for $12 and then getting paid for $40 gets you back that investment in such a short period plus you get to use your website for other things since it’s already yours. Bonus feature, free training!

There are 5 Stages of training and the lessons in each of the stages are very useful for not only advertising and getting traffic to your articles, but utilizing your site for your own personal gain and getting results.

The 5 stages are:

  1. Setting up your website and email
  2. Setting up your social media
  3. Social Media Marketing
  4. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  5. Monetizing Your Website

That alone sealed the deal for me. Learning plus earning, what more do you need?!

Anyways, I passed the application process and blog set-up. Next stop, writing my article.

It’s been awhile since I wrote something that long (over 1,000 words) and it took me about 2 days to finish my article when in the past, it would’ve taken me just a few hours. But I also had to sift through my phone album for images to use since they have their own guidelines that explicitly frowns upon the use of copyright images. Once I had everything laid out, I submitted my article. I got an email 2 days later that my article was rejected with a note that my images were too large.

Phew! Easy fix. I thought it would be my writing (I don’t really feel confident about it yet). After resizing the images (this is also taught in the training section), I resubmitted my article and in less than 24 hours, got another email saying I was approved and that I should be able to see my article on their site and facebook page within the week!

I was giddy! For those who are paid writers, this would be nothing to you. But as for me, this is the first time I’m getting paid for my writing and it’s like being in the 4th grade again dreaming about becoming a novelist (although this is far from that, but the aspect of getting money for my writing made it felt like that).

Anyway, So I got paid a day later after my article got approved. Here’s proof of payment (I redacted my contacts and the name of the sender for privacy reasons.):

One glitch I found frustrating though is that you have to reapply to submit another article, this time they will review the views on your previous article and the content of your blog (whether it meets their standard like having your own content and whether you posted the article you submitted to them which is a big NO for them).

In conclusion, Writers Agency is exactly what their name suggests, they act as an agent to you (the writer) by giving you jobs but you need to have a good portfolio first to show the other websites looking for content. Travelicious world is a good place to start but I plan to expand my sites usefulness by turning it into my personal branding (which is why I chose my name to make it more professional) so I can link it to my online businesses (still working on these). Plus I get to purchase the domain and hosting cheap!

This is my sincere and honest review on travelicious. They’re not a scam but it’s not for you if you’re looking for a full time job. But if you’re looking to have your own professional website and get it cheap, plus get free training and your work paid and posted on a legit site as a start, then you’re in the right place. That’s it for now. See you on my next post! 🙂
